Mario x Rabbids: Rabbid Kong was a fun boss, and we squeaked by 'im. The challenges seem like they're gonna be tricky- the first one was "Very Easy" but I missed it by like one attack. Anyway this is a solid game that I am sure I am gonna get hours of enjoyment out of while I wait for Smash Ult-



Genso Wanderer Reloaded: there are touhou games with english releases now with physical copies you can impulse buy at gamestop and everything! What a time to be alive. ....Got like 25 floors in and died after panicking on an enemy that didn't just die in a straight fight. It's like I gotta use my noggin for this game or something! I wasn't sure about Futo until she started using Umu. I've never been great at roguelikes, but I do enjoy them for a while until I get frustrated, and I expect this to run much the same lol.

Aria 2- On that Special Day...: It's the Acqua Alta, a yearly phenomenom where the whole town (planet?) floods a bit and everybody just kinda takees the week off. We have to get President Aria some food, but since all the streets are flooded we get lost and wind up at Hime-ya in time for Aika and her even-more-tsundere mentor Akira to get in a fight. Aika defects to Aria! Oh hey, the Aika/Alicia backstory: one day years ago, Aika was having a bad day and Alicia gave her a ride and also put her hair into her now-signature twintails. Turns out Alicia and Akira were childhood friends! Aika winds up going back to Hime-ya and patching things up, so that's nice. Lotsa backstory here! And feet, if you're into that. Was good episode.

hey y'know what? It's winter and my mental health always takes an extended dip during winter. DDLC is on hiatus for a few months, I'm afraid. So, let's go back!

LP MGS4 1-1: lolwut workout ads. I find all this washed out grey and GUNZ quite offputting :\ I do like the mechs, even if they sound like cows for some weird reason. I'm also entertained that his name is "Old Snake." The box bit was kinda great though! NO PLACE FOR HIDEO :(

WoK: I feel like the Amaran heel turn didn't quite meet the hype, but maybe he'll show back up later and flesh himself out some. Enjoying the science geeks experimenting with Spren, and Cool Zeth Stuffs.

Delta Rune: Susie has joined get HYPE. I wanna find the key for the weird guy behind bars, but I don't think there's a way to get out right now. Maybe I should wait until I know what order rooms are in for that one puzzle, anyway? Also I very much enjoyed the Forest Maze. I guess there are lots of forest mazes in vidja games but that one really recalled SMRPG for me. ....Actually some of that ambient bweep bwooping sounded a lot like Earthbound, too. I really outta actually beat Earthbound one of these days.

WoK: well heck if Kalladin isn't the best depiction of depression I've seen in a while. Also geeze, stuff got trippy real quick. Shallan has her own little horror story going, and Kalladin became the wind from the prologue of every wheel of time. My biggest takeaway though was that Shallan has a shardblade? That's gotta be an interesting backstory. So is Kalladin turning one down. Pretty excited to see where both of their arcs take them!

Delta Rune: Forgot to write about it, but booted it up the other day. Is a good time so far, and so Undertale-y that I am just kinda waiting for it to subvert everything and go off the rials.

Pokemon: Made it to Ecruteak. Sudowoodo gave me some trouble, both with figuring out where the watering can was and actually beating him. Not sure how I wound up so underleveled. EEVEE joins the team, and will eventually become Umbreon on this topic's request!

I picked up a Switch yesterday- it's pretty much gonna be a Smash Bros box (got the special edition one bundled with a pre-order) but I also was randomly gifted a copy of MarioxRabbids a bit ago that I busted out.

MarioxRabbids: Kinda like DW6E, this won't have an official spot in the rotation for now, but will probably get some playtime anyway! This is....about exactly what I expected, and it's quite fun. That piranha plant miniboss destroyed me on my first attempt, so I am under no illusions that it's gonna be easy. Got him the second time though, and now we're on like 1-7. Currently rolling with Mario/R Peach/Luigi.

My computer is probably not long for this world, and I'm trying to decide whether I wanna bother unlicensing and re-licensing TEW 2013 just so I can keep this going on the next computer. What do y'all think? I'm still kinda enamored with the idea of carrying a game through many years, but the novelty has worn off and there doesn't seem to be tons of reader interest at this point and the temptation to start a new file is always strong

and if I DON'T carry this over, what would you wanna see for my next file? 1006-verse? 90s? 2000s? Something crazy gimmicky? I figure modern day has enough diaries going right now >_>

MLP 8-23- Sounds of Silence: whoa I DID miss this, thanks. This is indeed quite a good ep! Solid message, good song, good characters, good Fluttershy/AJ interaction. Those two make a pretty dang good team! Also really wasn't expecting an extended Phantom of the Opera reference in the middle of a song! I kinda wanna see more kirin.

Lucha 1-25b: Ivelisse/Angelico/Havoc are still bickering. Puma (title) v. Drago (career) is now! I dunno about this, man. A few weird twists that could happen, and I don't want either to lose! But I guess that's the point. Konnan seems to be micced, which is odd. Sick Canadian (Mexican?) Destroyer from Drago, but the ref is bumped. Hernandez runin on Drago, but seems like he was going for Puma....welp, that's it! I feel like a career ender should be clean, and it wasn't quite as amazing as expected before the end. (***) Thank you Drago, tho. ...okay that was a cool tease at the end.

the funny thing about SLAMMED is that, in-universe, it is a roughly WWE-sized fed that dominates the landscape....but it's a super obscure game (play it) so in 1006-verse it's a piddly little indy fed named GLOBAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE. Tiger Mask W's Global Wrestling Monopoly has a similar scenario.

Nadesico 26- For The Lady We Will Meet Someday: Well heck, the Ai twist came way outta left for me! ...And that's that! I kinda feel like maybe they shoulda wiped out the ruins? You lose memories, but you get peace, and you get dead folks back. Ah well, I guess. Shipping didn't play out the way I wanted either, but I didn't really expect that either! Was a nice ending despite my gripes. I thought there was a second season, but on closer inspection it looks like just a special! I'll have to watch that sometime....and in the meantime it looks like time to pick a new animoo!

Y'know, the world is a dark and stressful place these days, and sometimes I just need to get away. Anime can be fantastic for that, with shows like Azumanga Daioh and Non Non Biyori that just move at their own pace and don't have major drama to them. Cute girls doing cute things has always been a soft spot for me, but I kinda feel like the anime industry has gone all in on that stuff, churning out endless soulless iterations of the theme and shifting more to the fanservicey side than just a nice time that happens to have girls. I feel like moe slice of life used to have more heart to it than it does now. Hey, y'know what manga I kinda forgot about until recently, and got an anime adaptation in the meantime?

ARIA the ANIMATION 1- The City of Miracles...: I can't yet tell if this is a sequel to the manga or an adaptation or a side story or what. (which should tell you how plot-driven it wasn't) In a future where terraformed planets are a thing and everybody has names that start with A for some reason, 15-year-old Akari has come to Neo-Venezia on the planet Aqua. As one would expect, Neo-Venezia is a water city with a lot of gondolas, and that's Akari's calling in life. She and her tsundere buddy Aika are trainees at rival gondola companies, striving to become full Undines. Akari's mentor Alicia is a super yamato nadeshiko type, and Aika has a big ol' crush on her, as does token male Akatsuki. Also each company has a cat as their "president" and mascot, Akari's company having an especially derpy one. And that's all the context I expect you'll need for a good ten episodes at least! Undines are closer to tour guides than taxis, and pretty much every bit I remember from the manga is Akari exploring (or helping a customer to explore) Neo-Venezia and winning everybody over to its slow, pleasant vibe. Like, if this was a place that existed, I would assume that this anime was a product of its tourism office, and then I'd probably keep watching it anyway. I didn't get SUPER far on the manga but greatly enjoyed what I read, and this episode gave me no reason to doubt it'll live up to that feel. It's just...nice. And relaxed. (well, this one perked up for a few minutes after the cat fell in the river and we had to snag him)

LP DDLC 7: Oh lol I forgot about (or maybe missed?) the Mon-ika joke! The LPers are making jokes that Monika is bullying Sayori in the secret convos "whoops." Yuri's really winning me over so now I like everybody except probably Monika :\ And the PC. "Humans aren't 2-D creatures. I think you'd know that better than anyone." hmmmMMMMM. On the one hand I am kinda bummed that I have a vague idea what's going on in this game, but on the other hand there's lots of stuff I'd be missing if I didn't! I like Natsuki's beach poem! Once again I thought we were going to get to The Thing, but alas!

I think it looks at that after the show too, so if you can get enough of your storylines to a good rating over the course of the show, you don't get dinged.
